International Fiction Reading Group

Restarting Wednesday 12th October 2011 1.30-2.30

Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library

After taking a break for the summer the International Fiction Group will restart in October.  Due to teaching commitments the group will now meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the Month at 1.30pm.

The first book we’ll be reading is If On a Winter’s Night a Traveller by Italo Calvino.  Copies will be available to collect from the Millennium Library from Sept 1st.

We differ slightly from a traditional book group in that a lot of the discussion is focussed around the author, the translator and the setting of the novels read as well as the plot. Past books discussed include Love in the Time of Cholera, All Quiet on the Western Front and The Yacoubian Building.

This group is jointly run by the library and Dr BJ Epstein from UEA and in July 2011 won  a University of East Anglia CUE East Award, thanks to this award we are able to buy new sets of international fiction for the library catalogue and so have a new selection of books to read this autumn.

For more information about the group please email either BJ (B.Epstein@uea.ac.uk) or Sarah (sarah.salmon@norfolk.gov.uk)
